A short history of Teatro Petruzzelli
Teatro Petruzzelli is one of Italy's most renowned opera houses and a defining cultural landmark of Bari. Opened in the early twentieth century, it became a major stage for opera, concerts and international cultural events, linking the city with the wider European performing arts tradition.
After a devastating fire in 1991, the theatre was restored and reopened, returning to its role as a symbol of civic identity, resilience and cultural life. Hosting congress moments at the Petruzzelli places IAHR World Congress 2027 within one of Bari's most meaningful public spaces.
